The Vision

Our Five-Year Vision
Great Growth

We are in the fourth year of our five-year vision.
In faith we considered that it was going to be a time of “Great Growth” in all aspects of our church life here at Reality.

So we decided that we must grow.
And that means a constant attitude of “Preparing for Growth”.

Things left to themselves inevitability deteriorate and weaken.
Interestingly, Adam and Eve were given the task of caring for the Garden of Eden. In God’s graciousness we are all given gifts that we are to nurture and care for.

By focusing on our strengths, we have the ability in the Holy Spirit to accomplish great things. It is about offering what we have, not what we don’t have. Doing what we can, not what we can’t. Then as we bring our sometimes-meagre offering – watching in amazement as God brings the increase! God’s not asking us to work the miracle – that’s His job! However, He is asking us to be obedient and available. What a privilege it is to partner with God in what He is doing!

20-Twenty Vision

Balance through Connection

Loving God
Loving One Another
Loving our Community

I believe that one of our greatest challenges in the twentieth century as Christ followers is to find and maintain “balance”. We live in a unique time in history where we are being told that we can have it all, and that we should have it all.

No other time in all of history has there been a time like we are living in now. We have every possible bit if information known to mankind at our fingertips, at the click of a button. We have home comforts and so much available food and mammoth amounts of resources and material possessions. There are two kingdoms at war for our time and service here, there is the world and there is the kingdom of God. Which kingdom are you seeking?

John 18:36 (ESV)
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

1 John 2:15-17 (ESV)
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Think of a person on a tightrope. There is never a point where they can just stroll along, until they reach the landing at the other side. They must remain focused and keep momentum. In the same way, to live a balanced life, it requires focus and continual re-centring with Father God, every day. Every moment, we need Him!

Balance also requires us to know whose we are in God, and know our giftings and the calling that God has placed upon our lives. Once we know whose we are we can operate and function from this place as sons and daughters of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Balance that is eternal is only obtained through connection with God.

Balance as a church

It is very easy to get side-tracked as a church, there are so many good things we can be involved with and do. We must as a church be clear and intentional on what God is telling us to do. It’s like the force of a river, the currents remains strong and flow fast when the banks are straight and high and are able to support the weight and flow of the water, but as the river turns and runs off into smaller off shoots the river flow and speed is reduced.

In all we do, we must look to Jesus as our greatest example of living a balance life. There were pushes and pulls in all directions of His life and ministry. Jesus is our benchmark and the standard we are to aspire to achieve. Ultimately, He is building “His church” and we are to be conformed into “His image & likeness”. Let’s find balance together.

Reality will Be known for its “Love”

BALANCE Through: Loving God

We are to let the light and love of Jesus infiltrate every cell and molecule in our entire body. God wants all of us – not just the parts that we think are good enough for Him. He wants no part of us hidden from Him. The Father’s heart is for us to walk with Him as the first Adam did in the garden before the fall. The first and most important commandment is to love the Lord your God with all our heart, with all our minds and with all our strength. To know Him and be known by Him.

BALANCE Through: Loving One Another

This is Jesus’s second commandment to us in Mark 12 when answering questions of the religious leaders of His time. We can’t reflect Jesus’s light and love if we hate or have unforgiveness towards one of our Christian brothers or sisters, we are not just called to love them we are called to really love them, by showing it with our actions. When we show genuine love towards our brothers and sisters, we know that we have Jesus’ pure light and love inside us and all people on the outside looking in will say WOW, look at how they love each other…I want what they have!

BALANCE Through: Loving our Community

There are many ways that each of us can be invested in our community. What we mean by “our community” is anything outside the four walls of the church. There are many different ways that we can “infiltrate” the community with the love of God. Our program LOVE TRARALGON is one way we want to be invested in our community and its people. We want to see each of us grow into what God has called us to in this area: to authentically minister to the people we encounter in our everyday lives, to dream of ways we can bless them, and to be obedient to the call of God on our lives – both individually and collectively.

We will continue to maintain our three priorities that are a part of everything we do, both spiritually and practically.

  1. Relationship – “Our love for Jesus and each other.”
  2. Restoration – “Restorative Power – to make all things new.”
  3. Relevance – “We have purpose in our community.”

These three priorities keep us focused with how we operate as a Church and ensure we keep on track, and in balance.

Our programs continue to be summarized in to seven specific areas

• Worship and Celebration
• Ministry Development
• Family and Children
• Youth and Young Adults
• Encouragement and Care
• Evangelism and Witnessing
• Missions – Home and Overseas

We believe that these programs will continue to ensure that Reality will be a healthy, safe, strong, growing Church.

As always, the suggested specific points listed for each of these program areas is not meant to limit or restrict them in any way but provide a basis for what we hope to achieve over the coming twelve months.

We will continue to start our service at 10am with a worship time. In addition to the usual format following the worship time – communion, announcements and our message – we would like to introduce a short video testimony each service. These testimonies will be mostly from people within our congregation, but also inspiring testimonies from others as well. We plan to finish our service by 11.30am and then enjoy some time together catching up and spending time together around a coffee or hot chocolate and some morning tea.

We will continue our service in a way that gives time for, and encourages, the body to be involved with the use of the Gifts of the Spirit, Prayer and Words of Scripture. We will also keep our first Sunday of the month as a time for healing prayer at the end of the service and want to encourage the congregation to be involved with fasting prior to praying for the sick on that Sunday.

We have also seen again great growth in the last 12 months in relation to our church and our worship team. Bec and I, along with Chrissie and Susie, will be looking after the worship team until we have the right person to head up and lead the team as worship director.
We will also continue with our Sunday morning prayer meeting starting at 9:30am in the crèche and our monthly Sunday evening Holy Spirit led Prayer meetings. Also remember, we have a Wednesday night prayer meeting held fortnightly in the crèche. In 2020 we would love to see more than the old faithfuls involved with these prayer meetings, as this is the engine room for our Church moving forward with love and power.

Ephesians 6:8
“And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lords people.”

What has God birthed in your heart and spirit for 2020?
As we grow, we will need to apply wheels and stabilisers to the growth that has happened, making sure that everyone who wants to be, is connected and operating where they are meant to be. This will mean more small groups and the starting and implementing of a pastoral care team.

In terms of gifts and ministry we don’t know if you don’t tell us, so let us know what the Lord saying to you and then let’s see what God can do. Our hope and heart’s desire this year is to see the development of all people, rising-up in their ministry gifts, you have all been called for such a time as this.

Don’t let this year slip by, let’s be INTENTIONAL in our unique calling and watch Father God do the impossible in our lives, in our church and in our community!

This is a vital area of ministry at Reality. We have had in the past over 200 kids in our kid’s ministry, how amazing is that? I believe that Kingdom Kids in 2020 is going to be one of the biggest growth areas in our church.

Bec, while not officially running Kingdom Kids has put together some resources and rosters for the team to use this year. Please pray that a leader will rise up and lead this vitally important and overlooked role as Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator.

We also have our crèche program as part of our Kingdom Kids Program, so we will require volunteers to be on a roster for this – are you available? If you can help, please see Denise Frith our “creche co-ordinator” to see how and when you can help.

Resurgence” means revival, rebirth, rediscovery of something lost.
We have got some very exciting times ahead in 2020.

Daniel Robinson is leading our youth programme. Daniel will continue in a paid role here at Reality one day a week, while he studies full time bible college and undertakes his trainee pastor’s credentials with the CRC over the next couple of years.

The team will be involved in reaching out to local high schools, with breakfast clubs and lunchtime programmes. We will also be going out into the streets to meet other youth and share our faith and hope with them.

Again the “Seize the Day” program will be for our youth work and will be one of the main emphases for our home missions giving this year. The finances raised through seize the day will go towards helping us cover wages for Daniel’s involvement.

Reality Young Adults” We will be meeting one or two times a month depending on study and work loads of our young adults. There has been a lot of interest from other young adults that want to come along and be a part of what we are doing here at Reality, it is exciting to see God move through and raise up the next generation.

Please pray that 2020 will see the emerging of a married couple to lead and look after the Young Adults programme.

What we have at Reality is very special. We have a congregation that really cares about each other. We have gone through some significant hard times in our church in past years, but I have seen time and time again our church doing what it needs to do when it comes to meeting the needs and caring for our church congregation.

We would like to again have Sunday lunches after church on a monthly basis to further develop our relationship with each other. Maybe occasionally at the park where we can also invite friends and family and use this time as an outreach event.

Our small groups have been going well and we will continue to utilise them to disciple and nurture each other. We are really looking forward to adding more this year. The Ladies “Walk Talk & Coffee” has been going well and having the men joining once a month has been great.

Our Ladies ministry runs a weekend away in March, which is a great time to connect and get to know each other on a deeper level. The men are also doing a weekend away in October; we will be going somewhere into the great outdoors.

This year I can see other groups naturally arising from people’s interests in gardening, woodwork and fishing, these will be great to do and loads of fun. What kind of group or event can you put together?

We all need encouragement in our Christian walk – What are you reading apart from your Bible? Who encourages you? Do you have a mentor? What conferences are you going to attend this year? Be intentional with your growth in 2020.

Love Traralgon” So what is it all about?
Love Traralgon is a combined church initiative that is about being invested in and caring for our community through “Intentional Acts of Kindness”. Our first step is to have the Christian community working together.

As each of us – in the uniqueness of who we are called to be – shine Jesus’ light in Traralgon with love and compassion to the local community, and each other – we will begin to see the Church mobilised and visible.

We will also be involved in the Christmas parade and Christmas service down at Victory park this year, I am hopeful that all the other churches will be involved with these amazing events.

We will also continue with our Christmas hampers in December.
We need to be ready to share that Good News at every opportunity. Love Traralgon is a great tool and reminder of Jesus’s great commission.

We have one main local mission this year “Love Traralgon”. We are already seeing some amazing fruit in this area. Please continue to pray about your involvement and contribution with our local missions.

We will continue to support Rachelle Hardy and African Action. We also will continue to investigate specific financial involvement for African Action and their development of the school in Kenya.

Church Hall. We will continue to finish off the painting in the main hall, along with adding some decorative stage props to finish things off on stage. We will be looking into spending a significant amount of money on lino, and possibly new carpet and will have our new chairs in the new year to finish things off. We are also investigating different ways that we can keep the building cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

Working Bees. They continue to be needed to maintain our wonderful facility. Regular maintenance and upkeep is ongoing – never ending one might say. We have some priorities for this year that will require regular working bees. We plan to have three during the next 12 months. We have been so blessed in the past with the number of volunteers that donate their time and skills to care for our buildings and grounds. Thank you!

Office and Sunday School Rooms. We still have a bit of work to do on the outside of this building. Long term we will have to look at what we do with this building as it is still moving and needs to be put on a more solid foundation.

God gives us visions and dreams. It’s these dreams and visions that can give us the necessary energy, assistance and finances, because we see God’s plans and respond. We are stewards of God’s Kingdom here on earth. Our role – asking God for guidance and the ability to accomplish what seems to be the impossible. Here are three dreams that we still need to see happen…

Heaven Sent Building. It’s still there simply waiting for the finances to restore it to a useful building. We’ve gathered quotations and looked how we can economically repair the building. We are getting closer. We want this building for our youth and children’s activities as well as a teaching and training facility. Please pray for guidance for us.

Rotunda. We need to refurbish the ground under the rotunda to be able to make better use of this excellent facility. We need to fix the guttering and rewire electricity to the building – again subject to finances.

Patio Area. The area outside the rear of the kitchen needs to be cleaned up and developed as an extension to our fellowship area on a Sunday morning. Equipped with coffee tables, chairs, it would greatly enhance that area and finish that part of the property – again this is subject to finances.

This vision is a collective input from you the congregation and us the leadership as we have waited on God. The concept “Balance through Connection” will be exciting to see unfold, as we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us. We believe we are ready for growth and we are longing to see revival, renewal and new birth take place. We will continue to pray and seek His face and know that God is building His church and the gates of hell will not prevail!

The Holy Spirit must lead our Church – God must be and is in control.
Every one of us is valuable – The Church is here for the sake of the people.
Our vision is progressive – We build on accomplishments already done.
Unity is our priority – Loving one another and receiving God’s blessing.
We determine to grow spiritually – encouraging each other in this.
Reality is our spiritual home – We commit to freedom, love and acceptance.

2020 Vision. Let’s run this race together!
